Researcher biography

Maryam Shafiei holds a PhD in the fields of Architecture and Urban Planning from the University of Queensland (UQ). She also completed a BSc in Architectural Engineering and a Master of Architecture from universities in Tehran (Iran). For her PhD, she studied the typology of changes in the settlement and housing patterns in urban edges and remote settlements. She has then expanded her knowledge and skills into the realm of computational design and robotic fabrication in architecture, exploring approaches through which new construction technologies could contribute to the positive development of remote settlements. Since 2016, she has actively contributed to ongoing teaching and research efforts at the UQ Architecture.
